How to install Google Chrome on Lubuntu 17.10

Lubuntu 17.10 may comes with default web browser which is firefox, but if you want to use something else like google chrome, then go for it. In this article i will show you how to install google chrome on lubuntu 17.10 artful.

There are two ways to install debian package of google chrome, you can download and then install using command line or you can download and install using software install (graphical interface).

Using the graphical interface may seems easier to do, but the problem is sometimes it's not working, but other times works, that's why i prefer installing using command line.

How to install Google Chrome using command line
  • download google chrome debian package (.deb)
  • open command line/terminal on lubuntu
  • run update command
  • sudo apt-get update
  • install font liberation package
  • sudo apt-get install fonts-liberation
  • install google chrome
  • sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

How to install Google Chrome using GUI
  • go to google chrome download page
  • download the debian package and choose 'Open with : Software install (default)

  • click the install button

  • done!
