How to download youtube videos using clipgrab

In the past, i have showed you some tips about how to download youtube videos on lubuntu, in this article i'm going to show you another way to download youtube videos, this time is using program called clipgrab.

Clipgrab is a free program for downloading videos from various video sites such as youtube, metacafe, vimeo, etc, so clipgrab not just for downloading youtube.

Unfortunately clipgrab is currently not available on lubuntu/ubuntu repository, so you need to download it from clipgrab official site or from mirror sites.

The good things is we don't need to install the program, just run the binary on lubuntu, copy paste the youtube video url that you want to download and start downloading.

Step by step how to use clipgrab 3.5.6 on lubuntu
  1. download clipgrab binary.
  2. extract/unzip the file.
  3. install qt4 webkit library (required by clipgrab), read here.
  4. run the clipgrab binary.
  5. copy paste youtube video url to 'Downloads' tab.
  6. select the video quality (720p, 1080p, 360p, 240p, etc) and then hit 'Grab this clip!' button.
