Secret hidden shortcut keys on Lubuntu

Alright guys, today i'm going to show you another cool stuff you can do with lubuntu linux, there are few keyboard shortcut on lubuntu that most people don't know about it.

I guess if you following this blog from the beginning, you should know the CTRL + ALT + T, which very useful for opening terminal/console on lubuntu. There is more than that.

If you are on graphical mode (LXDE desktop) and you want to fully switch to console/text mode you can press this hidden shortcut :

CTRL + ALT + F1
CTRL + ALT + F2
CTRL + ALT + F3
CTRL + ALT + F4
CTRL + ALT + F5
CTRL + ALT + F6

CTRL + ALT + F1 will bring you to tty1, F2 is tty2, and so on. Once you are on full text mode, you can login with your username and password and you can do what ever you want.

Okay that's cool, now i want to go back to my desktop! Don't panic, your desktop still running normally, to switch to desktop mode you can press this shortcut:

CTRL + ALT + F7

For ubuntu and probably linux mint, the keyboard shortcut to go back to desktop mode is CTRL + ALT + F8. While on lubuntu the f8 will give you blank screen with no tty.

When exactly do i need these secret hidden shortcut keys?
  1. you are working on something important, and someone is looking at your screen and you don't want them to see your screen, switch to full text mode now!
  2. there's something wrong with your desktop, something crash and you want to debug, switch to full text mode and analyze it!
  3. you can do this on your friends computer, and if they don't know how to fix it, they will be frustrated.
